Surface RT Basic Information

1. Release Date

· Released in October 2012. The first Surface series product from Microsoft.

2. Operating System

· Equipped with Windows RT (a simplified version of Windows 8 based on the ARM architecture). Only pre-installed apps and apps from the Microsoft Store can be run; traditional x86/x64 desktop programs are not supported.

3. Hardware Specifications

· Processor: NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core ARM processor.
· Memory: 2GB RAM.
· Storage: 32GB or 64GB (actual available capacity is less due to system usage).
· Display: 10.6-inch ClearType HD touchscreen (1366 x 768 resolution).
· Cameras: 720p front and rear cameras.
· Ports: USB 2.0, microSD card slot, Micro HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack.
· Charging Interface: Proprietary magnetic charging port (similar to the Type Cover interface of later Surface models).

4. Distinctive Design

· Built-in adjustable stand (single angle only).
· Compatible with Touch Cover or Type Cover (removable keyboard cover, sold separately).
· Body material is magnesium alloy, weight approximately 676g.

7. Important Notes
· It is now outdated and unsuitable for modern use (software updates have stopped, insufficient performance).
